  1. Some Notes to the DC fonts, version 1.1, 1992-03-24

  4.      Attention !  This is the second version of the DC font
  5.                   family. Not all will be error free.
  6.                   Therefore comments and error reports
  7.                   are wellcome to the address below.

  12. The DC fonts, which are the first (pre) release of the EC fonts,
  13. contain the text fonts of the "computer modern font family"
  14. with a coding scheme, that has been defined in the Cork meeting of
  15. TUG 1990 the "TeX 256 international character set".
  16.  
  17. The fonts are generated without specific driver files, like "dcr10.mf".
  18. Instead a interpolation algorithm is used to set up the needed
  19. parameters. A driver file has to contain only a specification of
  20. "gensize" and a call to the global driver file.
  21. A TeX run with the file "dcstdedt.tex" sets up a standard set of
  22. size specifying files which call the parameter files.
  23. By editing the file DCSTDEDT.TEX the wished size set can be
  24. customized easily.

  26. It is recommended to use "dxbase.mf" for installing a new
  27. base file that is needed during the Metafont runs.
  28. "DXBASE" and "CMBASE" are not compatible. "DXBASE" needs
  29. the plain Metafont macros.

  31. To generate a font "dcr60" a file "dcr60.mf" with the contents
  32.  
  33.        "gensize:=60; generate dcr"
  34.  
  35. is needed. To get a set with very small sizing steps only some files like
  36.  
  37.    dcr10p1.mf  containg:   gensize:=10.1; generate dcr
  38.    dcr10p2.mf  containg:   gensize:=10.2; generate dcr
  39.    dcr10p3.mf  containg:   gensize:=10.3; generate dcr
  40.    dcr10p4.mf  containg:   gensize:=10.4; generate dcr
  41.    dcr10p5.mf  containg:   gensize:=10.5; generate dcr

  46. Some hints to the files:

  49. 1.   All DX-files contain macros and shape definitions, exspecially
  50.      "dxbase.mf" is the new base macro set.
  51.  
  52. 2.   The DC-files contain the global font parameters used by
  53.      the interpolation algorithm and are included after specifying
  54.      the "gensize":
